Our Board of Directors
COACH is governed by a committed and experienced Board of Directors who volunteer their time to ensure our organisation remains accountable, well-run, and true to its mission.
The COACH Board of Directors is drawn from the Anglican Diocese of Johannesburg and the broader professional community. Our board members bring expertise in governance, finance, law, social development, and community leadership — providing strategic oversight and accountability for everything we do.
COACH is registered as a non-profit organisation (NPO: 052-658) and holds Public Benefit Organisation status (PBO: 930 024 064). Our board ensures full compliance with all relevant legislation and that COACH’s resources are used effectively in service of the children in our care.
Lesedi Mphahlele
Chairperson
Mr. Mphahlele is an admitted Attorney (2010) specialising in dispute resolution within sports and media law. Mr. Mphahlele is an experienced litigator in both superior and lower courts, representing multinational communications companies and sports bodies. He holds a BA Law, a Certificate in Sports Law, and is currently an MBA candidate.
Malose Samuel Mokgopha
Deputy Chairperson
Mr. Mokgopa is an experienced leader in the NPO sector, currently serving in a senior role within a childcare organisation. Sam holds an M.A. in Social Work (cum laude), a BA, and a BA Honours degree, along with certificates in corporate governance, human resources, and related fields.
Penelope Anne Lucas
Treasurer
Lucas has nearly four decades of experience in support services as an Office and Finance Administrator and HR Officer. She began her career in education, holding a Higher Diploma in Education from Wits University and spending five years as a teacher before transitioning into administration and human resources.
Lesley Blake
Secretary
Ms. Lesley Blake is an experienced South African attorney and the founder of her own legal practice since 1998. Holding a BA (Law and Sociology) and LLB from Wits, along with a Diploma in Access to Information and Privacy Law (2021), she has built a diverse practice spanning commercial litigation, property disputes, insolvency, and estate administration.
Since 2002, she has specialised in family law, handling divorce, maintenance, children’s court matters, and parenting plans for a wide range of clients. In addition to her practice, she is actively involved in training social workers and legal professionals and has taught matrimonial law and court practice. Her advocacy work includes contributions to gender issues and legal submissions.
Colette Olivier
Vice Secretary
Colette has experience across marketing, graphic design, and events planning, with additional strengths in social media management and photography. She holds an LLB degree and is currently pursuing a BA in Psychology, combining creative, legal, and behavioural insight in her professional profile.
Yvonne Funeka Ndungane
Member
Ms. Ndungane is a pioneer in economic empowerment initiatives focused on women’s advancement. She is a seasoned leader committed to mentoring and developing emerging leaders. An accomplished entrepreneur, she has founded several companies across multiple sectors.
Her qualifications include PR and Marketing, Executive Coaching, Security Studies, and Christian Ministry training.
Ntombilungile Cecilia Dube
Member
Lungi has over 15 years’ experience in the telecommunications sector, where she worked as a technician. In the late 1990s, she transitioned into facilities management, taking on responsibility for managing a large property portfolio and coordinating with various property service providers.
She holds a National Diploma in Telecommunications, an Advanced Management Programme qualification, and a three-year bachelor’s degree in Christian ministry.
Hendrik Jacobus Terblanche
Member
Mr. Terblanche has served as a ward councillor for over 15 years, representing his constituency in council and contributing across various committees. He brings hands-on experience from his time working in a public hospital pharmacy, where he was informally trained as a pharmacy assistant. With a strong background in management, he is also a confident public speaker with a proven ability to organise and lead community meetings.
Robyn Stephens
Member
Robyn is an experienced educator with over two decades in the teaching profession. She has consistently championed the role of sport in education, recognising the strong link between physical activity and effective learning. Beyond the classroom, she is an active community leader who serves in various local structures. Robyn also brings solid governance experience, having held a Head of Department role for many years.
Kenneth Fick
Managing Director
Mr. Kenneth Fick brings 25 years of management experience from the Department of Labour, including 16 years as Gauteng Provincial Director. He has strong expertise in governance, financial management, and leadership, supported by certifications in project, financial, and marketing management.
After serving five years as Chairperson of the COACH Management Board, he was appointed Managing Director in November 2025. He is passionate about empowering people and ensuring the care, safety, and well-being of children in COACH’s homes.
COACH is fully compliant with the Non-Profit Organisations Act and the Companies Act where applicable. Our annual financial statements are independently audited, and we report regularly to the Department of Social Development and our funders.
We are committed to transparency, ethical governance, and the responsible stewardship of every resource entrusted to us — because the children in our care deserve nothing less.
